Visit Hayes Arboretum for a free walk along the paved auto tour trail. Learn about the rich history of Hayes Arboretum and view the Morton Arch. The hike is approximately one mile and contains some hills.
The hike will start at the Nature Center parking lot.
Hayes Arboretum is made up of 466 acres of woodlands, meadows, swamps, and streams which make it an ideal place to explore the wonderment of nature and to gain an appreciation of our natural heritage. The property contains 3% of Indiana’s old growth forest, as well as many acres of of reforested woodlands.
The Arboretum’s Nature Center is housed in an 1833 dairy barn which houses exhibits on regional flora and fauna. In addition, the Hayes Museum is on the property which showcases the history of the Arboretum and the Hayes family.
