Solar Eclipse 101: Get to Know About It All

October 11, 2023 at 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Excited for our upcoming solar eclipses? Yes, two! Come to this session and make sure you’re ready. Astronomer Dr. Wes Tobin will make sure you know a solar umbra from penumbra and are prepared to view both!
You will have a chance to ask questions, and each participant will leave with a pair of eclipse glasses. Participants may also be interested in our program “Solar Eclipse 201: Safe Viewing of the Sun” at Elstro Plaza (weather dependent), on Friday, Oct. 13 from noon to 1 p.m.

About the presenter

Wes Tobin is a Professor at Indiana University East. His research areas include observing and modeling eclipsing binary stars. His degrees are from Ball State, Iowa State and Indiana State.
This program is provided in partnership with Indiana University East, Richmond Parks and Recreation and Wayne County and Tourism Bureau. Registration is not required but is available to hold your spot. The Bard Room is handicapped accessible; once in the building, use our front stairwell or elevator to reach the lower level. Should you have accessibility needs, please email Beth in advance at BHarrick@mrlinfo.org to discuss accommodations so we can work to best welcome you!
